The Douvres Home

The Douvres home is located in Placerville, CA in the heart of El Dorado's gold country in Placerville, CA. Douvres is a ten bed facility that provides a placement option for young men 13 to 19 years old facing a variety of behavior and emotional issues that require 24 hour nonmedical care. Douvres offers a therapeutic and structured setting in a home environment providing our youth a place to feel safe and secure while leaning many necessary life skills. Douvres offers a variety of courses which include some of the following:
  • A general maintenance course where our youth are introduced to the general knowledge and safety of basic tools and equipment, as well as ground maintenance and repairs.
  • A culinary arts program where our clients are introduced to safe food handling procedures and healthy meal planning and preparation.
  • We proudly offer 2 horticultural courses. The first being introduction to gardening where our youth are taught the basics of gardening, the importance of soil and planting zone and the proper care of seeding. The first course gives our gardeners all the information they need to advance to our second course. Our second gardening course is our Green House course. Our youth built and maintain our greenhouse in our general maintenance course. Our Green House course introduces our youth to more advanced gardening techniques such as pest control, soil selection, and much more. It is our goal to provide all of our fruits and vegetables needed for our program on a weekly basis.

Our youth are also offered to participate in regularly structured physical activities such as daily trips to the gym where youth are encouraged to participate in organized sports such as basketball and weightlifting. In the winter season, youth are enrolled in snowboarding courses at the Heavenly resort in South Lake Tahoe. During the client's stay at Douvres they follow a structured privilege program. Each privilege or step encourages self-sufficiency and age appropriate knowledge of daily living skills and tasks. Upon completion of the privileges, each youth is evaluated for a successful completion of our program.

Our mission is to encourage health living and productive members of our community. Each of our youth attends one on one counseling as well as group therapy and a wide variety of other services such as Drug and Alcohol counseling, Moral Reconation Treatment, and Independent Living Skills courses provided by our outpatient therapist at Tahoe Turning Point's Outpatient Placerville location on Placerville Dr.
